I am writing to endorse John Parry's praise for Sam's Weigh. I am 85
years old and not able to get much exercise but still managed to lose
two stone with Sam who is a really great lady very caring
encouraging, and with new recipes every week. I highly recommend
her to anyone no matter what your weight problem.

Eliot Mansfield, (`Letters' last month), must have too much time on his
hands that he thinks he represents ALL the Phonebox readers of
Newport Pagnell. If he doesn't like the magazine why doesn't he
throw it away? Many people in Newport Pagnell like reading it and
some of us as far away as North Crawley think it is a very good
magazine, Olney articles and all.

Maybe Eliot Mansfield should keep his self-opinionated views to himself.

Last year workmen spent a great deal of time improving the sports field
at Carey Way. Unfortunately they have failed to remove a quantity of
bricks and rubble and other debris. In addition there are deep ruts,
many of which are now filled with water. The right of way is used by
local residents and there is likelihood of an accident. The cost of
clearing up this mess will be minimal compared to the potential cost of
not taking any action and an accident occurs. Also, in the current
circumstances, the area is likely to become a dumping ground.

Another potential accident spot is the steps leading down from the
Co-op to the Oxfam shop. The light has been out for some time. It
appears there is a dispute as to who is responsible. Are they waiting
for an accident to happen before taking any action?
