Report on Olney
Newton Link
The Skills Training Centre
We have recently received a report
from the ONL committee in Newton.
`We have been
very busy in the
last few months,
myself, Dominic,
Mabinty, Val,
Mariatu etc.
some of us with
family difficulties
so we lost
communications. We apologise for
this; nevertheless it makes no
difference in the progress of the
skills centre. We have utilized the
funds we have at hand by raising the
building from start, about 10ft high
above ground level and 3ft deep
below the ground. We were not able
to use local block because of the
rains so we use concrete cement
blocks. The building is 75ft long and
32ft wide. We need more money to
do completion. Unfortunately we do
not have a zoom camera that will be
able to take a larger photo of the
buildings. They are not small
buildings.'
We are now awaiting further details
of what is now required to get the
buildings into use.
Latest Shipment of Goods to
Newton
Another carton of goods kindly
donated by local people and
organisations is now on its way and
is expected to arrive in Freetown at
the end of February. It contained the
following:
Second-hand reading books
Large green first aid kit
Box of second-hand hymn books
Four small boxes and two packets
First Aid
Secondary School science books
Sunday School books
One set English work books
Second-hand sports clothing
Ship: Repubblica Del Argentina
Sailing: 25 January 2009
Due to arrive: 17 February 2009
BUT This date is subject to sailing
conditions etc, and goods have to
clear customs and dock before
being available for collection from
Robert Claire's Freetown offices
once any further duties etc have
been paid. It is therefore likely to be
end of February before goods reach
Newton. K
