HAVE YOUR SAY

Dear Editor
I would like to write to share with your readers an incident that I recently found
myself in and how local businessmen that advertise in the Phonebox helped me
to pull through.
It was on Sunday 9th November at midday when I was drilling through a wall
and drilled right through a power cable. This cable was between a 14" solid
stone wall and a built-in kitchen unit and it knocked out all power to my house,
leaving no heating, no power and no lights. My wife was at that time ill and
could not move from her bed. It was a 'don't panic Mr Mannering' moment but I
remembered reading the adverts in the Phonebox and phoned Duncan Sands
who happened to be on a trip to London but spent some time trying to help me
over the phone and would have come to my house if he was home. He could
not fix the problem but recommended I try Dave Boddy who was also in the
magazine. I phoned Dave with a sinking feeling of doom and three hours of
daylight left but Dave said that he would come round right away despite it being
a Sunday and arrived at my house half an hour later with a colleague and within
an hour had sorted me out and power was restored. Dave did not actually know
at that time that my wife was ill as I had not managed to mention that.
I received the cost for the call out and I can only say that it was more than
reasonable, Dave said that he was here to help people when they were in
trouble and not take advantage of them. I wanted to write in to say that both
businesses were local ambassadors for the magazine and that I would
recommend Dave Boddy for any electrical work that readers were thinking of
having carried out, with Duncan a close second. Keep it local it is all that you
need.

Dear Editor
Confusion over `Bacchus'
Mr Geoff Bacchus wrote an article published in Phonebox
Magazine
. This drew much response in last month's
edition. A number of customers have subsequently made
me aware that some folk have understandably linked
Bacchus Wine to Mr Bacchus and encouraged boycotting
of our shop. Whilst occasionally I dream of being regarded
as The God of Wine and although cheeky chappie Ol'
Boys frequently calls me `Bacchus' I would like to clarify
that there is no connection between our business
Bacchus Wine on the Market Place (named after the
Roman name for the Greek God of Wine) and Mr Geoff
Bacchus. I knew we should have called ourselves
Dionysus! I'd be very grateful if you could publish this
clarification so that thirsty customers can feel happy in
returning to our shop in their droves. Alternatively offer me
the opportunity to publish a controversial article under the
pen name William Winerack.
Salut!
