Week of prayer for Christian Unity
This year the theme was `You are witnesses'
and people from every congregation went to
the short lunchtime services, held in each
church and in the convent. We had time to
consider how Christians through the ages
(including us) were able to bear witness to
God's goodness and love, through
celebrating life, sharing our lives, our
traditions, love of the Bible and hospitality.
The spirit of friendship and cooperation at
each service was a sign that the week was
an answer to its own prayer.

SUCCESS OF THE OLNEY PANCAKE RACE
I'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make the Olney Pancake Race
such a success. As you may have read in the Telegraph Geoff Bacchus took it upon himself to
slate off the whole day due to the appearance of Joel Defries the presenter from Blue Peter.
Anna Wingerath and I worked with the Blue Peter that day, and all I can say is that the whole
team from the show were enthusiastic, courteous and added great fun for a half term turnout
at Olney. Joel came back to the Market Place and happily signed autographs, chatted and had
photos taken with all the children. There were hundreds of them and Joel made absolutely
sure that every one of them went away happy. Put it this way, my daughter Esther, nearly five
now, is a huge fan of Joel and the Blue Peter team. I think she's fairly indifferent to Geoff.
