Olney market trader retires after 44 years
Susan Dowdy is retiring and plans to take it easy after 44 years (in
March) on Olney Market, selling fish.
Susan worked briefly in a bank before following her mother and
grandmother onto the fish market.
People will be lost without her,
she was more than the local fish
lady, she was a friend to many.
Susan used to have a pitch five
days a week before changes in
shoppers habits. The dealer
would deliver fish from Grimsby
at 4am and Susan arrived in
Olney at 5.30am.

happy retirement.
