Get in the picture
In the market place on Saturday 12th December, Olney's visitors and
local residents took part in `Get in the picture', an event inviting local
people to have fun exploring what Christmas means. Friends and
families were invited to dress up as characters from the Nativity Story
and become part of a larger venture run by churches all over the UK.
Members of St Peter and St Paul Church helped to organise the Olney
`film set' and with the help of Jeremy Rawlings' photographs and
David Pibworth's props the day `in costume' was a huge success and
enjoyed by many. "Some families were very keen to dress up, coming
in costumes made at home. Tea towels, bath robes, eye liner all
helped make the occassion." says Revd Claire Wood. "But our greater
hope is that people left with a deeper understanding of the peace
Christmas can bring and a sense of shared joy."
